Dr. GLENN THORPE, WA6FJE

IN APPRECIATION

For a lifetime of dedication to the advancement of Amateur Radio in yachting. Your kindness and generosity have been an inspiration to the entire Southern California yachting community, and particularly to your fellow radio amateurs.

In your role as Technical Advisor of the California Yacht Club Radio Amateur Group and its first lifetime member, your technical leadership has been a cornerstone of the organization. We join yachtsmen near and far to recognize your many contributions to our lives by your excellence in yacht racing and race management.

Over 150 world cruising yachts have enjoyed safer passage because you personally designed, installed, and documented superb communication systems and then maintained daily contact with the skippers.

Your leadership of amateur communication in the yachting events of the 1984 Olympic Games set a new world-wide standard for amateur radio. But above your many accomplishments is the enrichment you have brought to our lives.

With these thoughts we present this token of love and appreciation to our friend and brother, Dr. Glenn Thorpe.
